After SC prod, Centre sends 70 names for high court judges
Pushed by the court to either clear names for judgeship expeditiously or be ready for unpalatable order, the Centre on Monday told SC that it cleared 70 names forwarded by high courts and sent to the SC collegium and also took the decision to transfer 12 HC judges out of 26 recommended. It also said that the government would soon implement collegium recommendations for appointment of the Chief Justice of Manipur along with appointment of five judges in different HCs out of 19 names recommended.

Man gets life term for fraud marriage, rape & attempt to convert wife

41% of amphibian species worldwide threatened with extinction: Study
A study by global experts has found that 41% of amphibian species worldwide are at risk of extinction. 961 arrested for child marriages in Assam
A total of 961 people were arrested in Assam for participating in child marriages, marking the second crackdown by the state government this year. GPS ‘misguides’ 2 young doctors to death
