Jharkhand Police on Wednesday arrested Seema Patra, the suspended BJP functionary and wife of a former IAS officer, for allegedly torturing her adivasi domestic help Sunita Kumari. Seema's son, disturbed by the torture, had reportedly shared the videos with his friend, an officer of the personnel & administrative reforms department of Jharkhand government, who went to police.

At 13.5% in Q1, India's GDP grows at fastest pace in a year

Data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) showed the country's GDP rose by an annual 13.5% in the April-June quarter of the current fiscal year, higher than the 4.1% in the previous quarter, but below the 20.1% recorded in the first quarter of 2021-22. The 13.5% growth was lower than the Reserve Bank of India's estimate of 16.2% for the first quarter of 2022-23.

Desi qHPV vax against cervical cancer to be launched today

India is all set to launch on Thursday its first indigenously developed quadrivalent Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine for prevention of cervical cancer. It has been developed by the Serum Institute of India in partnership with the Department of Biotechnology. Govt cuts windfall tax on fuel export, raises levy on domestic crude oil
